Has anyone tried to run their FT100D from a remote
computer (like at work) using Ham Radio Deluxe or a
similar program? If so, does it work well, and is it
hard to set up?

I have recently downloaded ham radio deluxe and remotely controlled
my FT100D. The configuration I used is as follows:
RIG: FT100D
CAT CABLE: CT-62
HRD SERVER CONNECTED TO FT100D VIA COM1: PIII 700MHz/WINDOWS XP SP2
INTERNET CONNECTION: BROAD BAND 256Kbps

CLIENT: DEL 1.2GHz NOTEBOOK/WINDOWS XP SP2 WITH HRD IN CLIENT MODE
TESTED BOTH WITH A DIAL UP AS WELL AS A BROAD BAND CONNECTION

VOIP SOFTWARE: SKYPE

The link worked extremely well. I have not transmitted through the
remote connection yet, only monitored the RX on all bands from 160M
to 70cm. Tested PTT activation through CAT cable. I have the Yaesu
data cable for the 100D which I use for PSK and other digital modes
but I think with PTT activation using CAT cable TX data is not routed
through the data cable. So am in the process of making a separate
cable with RJ11 jack to connect the sound card with the mic. input of
the radio in the front panel.

Hope this helps.

P.S.: The HRD remote control works quite well and is fairly easy to
set up. Just follow the user guide in ham radio deluxe. If you need
help please contact me at vu2hfr-***@public.gmane.org
